MBA611 Accounting for Managers
Effective managers need a basic grounding in the theoretical and practical concepts of accounting to help them become better equipped to deal with problems concerning stock and bond prices, different transactions, taxes, credit analyses, and other accounting issues.
MBA623 Economics for Managers.
This module looks at the economic foundations of managerial decision-making. Areas covered include demand and cost theory and price determination in competitive and monopoly markets, advanced pricing strategies, market structure and competitive strategy, and the welfare-economic foundations of business regulation.
MBA642 Managing Marketing
Marketing is at the heart of every business. This module examines the nature and purpose of marketing by focusing on the core marketing principles. Topics include customer orientation, market evaluation and targeting opportunities, consumer behaviour, market research, and the importance of integrating product and service decisions with those on pricing, distribution and promotion.
MBA658 Managing Finance
This module aims to develop the ability to interpret accounting data and understand complex operational implications of financial planning and control in overall strategy, from a manager’s perspective.
MBA667 Managing People
Managers deal with people in every-day human resources management tasks. Areas covered include self-diagnosis and learning for management development, job design and specification (competencies), team development, appraisal systems, and understanding "managerialisms" and leadership.
MBA672 Business Law and Ethics
Shrewd managers will need a basic understanding of the laws that relate to business such as contracts, torts, product liability, business structures, and employment law. The modern business needs to be governed by ethics, and this topic will also be covered in this module.
MBA679 Managing Operations
This is a discipline which underpins the day-to-day running of a business. The module addresses issues which integrate operations with those in other functions. Operational research forms a constructive framework for understanding and analysing the function and management of operational systems and beyond.
MBA694 Managing Strategy
This module explores the nature of modern business and the challenges facing managers in today’s business environment. Strategic approaches and managerial policy formulation processes are examined from corporate mission and objectives through to strategy implementation.
